Home rates

$65/hr

One rate for every home job - troubleshooting, setup, software, tune-ups, Wi-Fi, backups, data recovery, hardware repairs, and more.

Quick calls and emails are free. A "remote session" is when I log in and start working on your machine.

Most jobs take 1 to 2 hours. I'll give you a time estimate before we start.

On-site vs Remote

On-site visits

•Hourly rate ($65/hr)
•One round trip billed at $40/hr (lower than the hourly rate), $10 minimum
•Best for: Wi-Fi setup, printers, smart TVs, physical hardware, anything needing hands-on work

Remote support

•Discounted rate, no travel charge
•No drive time means quicker turnaround
•Best for: account issues, software setup, email problems, quick fixes, follow-up support

•No hidden fees. The price I quote is the price you pay.
•No upselling. I don't sell hardware or earn commission on products.
•Clear communication. If a job is taking longer than expected, I'll let you know before continuing.

Rate modifiers

The hourly rate is the starting point. These modifiers can stack on top depending on the job:

At home (-$15 = $50/hr) - Bench repair at my place - I take the device home to fix it instead of visiting.
Phone (-$25 = $40/hr) - Help over the phone - quick calls are often free; longer fixes bill at this rate.
Public Holiday (+25% = $81.25/hr) - Applied automatically on NZ public holidays.
Remote (-$10 = $55/hr) - Screen-share session - I log in instead of visiting.

Travel

Travel is one round trip billed at $40/hr - a separate, lower rate than labour. Minimum $10 when there is any travel at all. If a job runs long and needs a second visit, that second trip is on me.

Minimum charge

30 minutes minimum per job, then 5-minute increments after that. Quick calls and emails stay free - a "remote session" is when I log in and start working on your machine.

Parts

Parts and hardware are billed at cost - what the supplier charged, receipt included, no markup and no commission. You approve the price before I buy anything on your behalf.

Cancellation

In-person visits: free if cancelled at least 12 hours before your appointment. Inside that window, a $35 cancellation fee applies. If cancelled within 2 hours of the appointment (when I would already be on the way), or if nobody is there when I arrive, the full $65 call-out applies plus round-trip travel. Remote sessions: free if cancelled at least 4 hours before your appointment. Inside that window, or if you are not there, a $25 fee applies. Please cancel using the link in your confirmation email, or by phone or text.

Unsuccessful work

A visit bills at the agreed rate when the problem is fixed - the issue described no longer reproduces by the end of the visit. A partial fix counts as a fix. Half price applies to the labour whenever I can't put the problem right - even when I leave you with a clear diagnosis of what's wrong and what to do next (for example, 'the drive is failing - here is the replacement to order'). Travel and any parts are charged as normal. A remote session where I can't fix the problem or explain the cause is free.

Workmanship guarantee

If something I changed on a previous visit causes a new problem within 30 days, I put it right at no charge - labour and travel. That is how I stand behind my work. This covers fallout from my own work. A separate new issue, or a fault outside what I touched, is billed as its own job at the agreed rate.

Public holidays

Available on NZ public holidays; a 25% surcharge applies to labour. Travel and parts are unchanged.

GST

Not GST registered. The price you see is the price you pay.
